Edwin Korir is the General Manager, Internal Audit and Risk Assurance, at the Water Sector Trust Fund (WaterFund).
Mr Edwin Korir is a Finance and Risk Management expert with over 20 years of experience having worked in the internal audit and risk management departments in various capacities across different organisations in Kenya.
Mr Korir provides an assurance and advisory services to the Board of Trustees and Management of the WaterFund on the effectiveness of governance structures, risk management, control, and accountability processes of the Fund. This is through the examination and evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of WaterFund's governance, risk management process, system of internal control, and the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities to achieve WaterFund's stated goals and objectives.
He furnishes the management and the Board with analysis, recommendations, counsel, and information concerning the activities reviewed. He is also called upon to offer assurance on projects funded by the Development Partners including European Union, German Development Bank (KfW), DANIDA, UNICEF, UN-Habitat, GIZ, World Bank, SIDA, Global Fund, Government of Finland, Government of Sweden, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, IFAD and Government of Kenya.
Prior to joining WaterFund, Mr Korir served as the head of the department, internal audit and risk management at the Postal Corporation of Kenya. He has also worked in Kenya Wildlife Services, Kenya Medical Services Authority.
Mr Korir holds an MBA (Finance) degree from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree from Kenyatta University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Finance from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He is also a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM, ISACA) and a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA ISACA).
